about the bang-bang way in which our defense looked completely unprepared for Alabama on Saturday and the Charlie-Strong-to-Louisville news started coming in by Monday night?
One hopes that he and Louisville and Urban and Notre Dame weren't negotiating contracts while Bama prep should have been going on.
Just saying. Sheesh.

i'd like to think that our staff was 1000% focused on the SECCG...anything less would be an excuse...we got beat by a better team....we'd not really played anyone that good in a while (OKLA)

Got beat, yes. By a better team? Ehh, I dunno. They were definitely better on Saturday, the only day that counted. On the whole, it's at best a push between us and Bammer, IMO. I still think that if both teams played at the height of their potential, we'd win 7 out of 10 of those games.
We played our worst game in 2+ seasons (this was worse than the '08 Ole Miss loss by far...against a much better team to be sure, but we weren't even competitive against Bammer) and they played their best.
About Strong/Louisville, I have faith that he was focused on the game. How much could have gotten through back channels prior to the game to distract him? The only chance, IMO, that he could have been distracted was if the message from Louisville was loud and clear: We want you and nobody else. We will pay you what you deserve.
If it was just rumblings about them being interested in talking to Strong...I don't see him being that distracted. He's been to that rodeo enough times to think clearly when that dirt starts flying.

I've never met a retarded person who wasn't smiling.

i definitely agree that bama had to be perfect to win and they were....we didn't have to be perfect to compete imho...we just didn't come close to being serviceable unfortunately.

It did seem like we went through the motions on Saturday. I also thought it odd that Charlie Strong got back from the game late Saturday night / early Sunday morning and had an interview already lined up.

why did that seem odd?? It's been widely accepted/rumored that he was at the top of their list since they fired their guy weeks ago.
