Better yet, why doesn't the gov't just buy all those condos and turn them into public housing and give all illegal immigrants a place to live rent free? That's a plan!!!

This is actually one thing I would agree with. The regs regarding lending for a condo have gotten extremely tight. I can't speak for all of the country but there are condos and then there are condo forms of ownership. There are a lot of neighborhoods in our part of the country that look like nearly any other single family neighborhood except that they are condos. None of them are attached dwellings, it's just that all of the common space and amenities are commonly owned and funded through condo association dues not unlike a home owner's association.
